Mark your calendars—PlantNebraska’s Member Appreciation Week is blooming July 20–24, and we’ve got a full week of gratitude, greenery and good vibes headed your way.

This celebration is all about you—our incredible community of members who make everything we do possible. From digging in the dirt to dreaming big about a greener Nebraska, you’re the heart and soul of this work. Your passion and support help us continue planting Nebraska for healthy people, vibrant communities and a more resilient environment.

So what’s in store? Think garden tours, virtual gatherings, special programs and a few member-only perks sprinkled in along the way. It’s all free for PlantNebraska members—our way of saying thank you for believing in our mission and growing alongside us.

Open daily for exploration - Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Our friends at Lauritzen Gardens are happy to offer PlantNebraska members FREE admission (up to 2 people per member card) to their gardens from July 20-26 as part of our Member Appreciation Week. We ask that you present your PlantNebraska member card and a photo ID at the front desk to redeem the offer.

Omaha’s public garden is a haven for plant enthusiasts and green thumbs, birdwatchers and butterfly spotters, photographers and artists, with more than 20 themed garden areas that invite YOU to experience and be inspired by the beauty of every season.

Tour the Downtown Lincoln Arboretum
Monday, July 20
9-10 a.m. (Central)

Join PlantNebraska for a special members-only guided tour of the Downtown Lincoln Arboretum! Explore how trees, perennials and thoughtfully designed plantings are transforming the heart of downtown Lincoln into a greener, more vibrant urban landscape.

During this one-hour walking tour, participants will learn about the vision behind the Downtown Lincoln Arboretum, discover standout plantings and hear how these spaces contribute to community beautification, environmental resilience and urban livability. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, talk plants and enjoy some of downtown Lincoln’s most impactful green spaces.

This relaxed, morning tour is designed to be approachable and enjoyable for a wide range of participants, with stops concentrated in key downtown areas.

Space is limited and registration is required.

Webinar: Bumble Bee Atlas with Jenny Pugesek, Xerces Society
Tuesday, July 21

Join Jenny Pugesek of the Xerxes Society to learn more about bumble bees! Jenny is one of the project managers of the Bumble Bee Atlas, a community science project aimed at tracking and conserving bumble bees. She works with Atlas programs in Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. Learn how you can help identify, report, and help the bumble bee population in Nebraska!

Tree-via at White Elm Brewing Company - Lincoln

Want to show off your tree, shrub and all-things-plant knowledge with friends over a pint? Have we got the trivia event for you!

Bring a team (up to 6) to White Elm Brewing Company (720 Van Dorn St, Lincoln) and expect 50ish questions over 2 hours. This is a free event (but we know our friends at White Elm would love it if ya bought a pint or two). Also, non-members are welcome to attend, too, so bring your friends and introduce them to PlantNebraska!

Tour the Gardens of Joslyn Art Museum
Thursday, July 23
9-10 a.m. (Central)

Explore Joslyn Art Museum’s gardens, which are a series of dynamic open-air gallery spaces, set within a Sandhills-inspired landscape and highlighting the outdoor sculpture collection. These sculpture garden “rooms” are tightly intertwined with the Museum’s three distinct yet connected buildings—1931 Joslyn Building, 1994 Scott Pavilion, 2024 Hawks Pavilion—establishing a layered experience of art, architecture, and landscape. Diverse drifts of plantings, including prairie grasses and perennials, provide a unified composition of color, texture, and seasonal interest and offer potential for new habitat.
