Waterwise in the Public Landscape
The Urban Water Team from Nebraska Extension offers guidance for making our public landscapes more ‘waterwise’. They understand the unique challenges that public landscapes face compared to private or home landscape settings and offer concrete actions and solutions.
A public landscape may be managed by city/village employees, business owners or local volunteers. Public landscapes may be truly open to the public such as a park or plaza or may cater to a smaller audience like a schoolyard or private business. A waterwise landscape recognizes water as a vital resource and creates a setting where irrigation can be used responsibly and stormwater is treated as an asset rather than a waste product.
