Greener Nebraska Towns

Ready to change your community? We want to help.

The Greener Nebraska Towns program provides Nebraska communities with planning and funding resources to make meaningful landscape improvements for better quality of life.

Nebraska communities and community groups that want to improve their public landscapes--streets, trails, parks, campuses, schools, fairgrounds--are encouraged to apply for Greener Nebraska Towns.

Applications will be accepted Aug. 1 - Oct. 1 of 2017.

How to apply:

  1. Review the program criteria. Successful projects have volunteers, government representatives and professionals who work together to complete the process. For more on what Greener Towns does for communities and who should apply, take a look at the information for applicants on the application above.
  2. Form a Green Team. Communities and community groups interested in applying should form a Green Team, a project committee of 4-10 committed people who represent everyone involved with or affected by the project, including those who will be using or maintaining it. Green Team members are expected to spend 20-40 hours on the process over the course of a year.
  3. Fill out the application above. Complete the fillable form and review the application checklist to make sure it's ready for submission.
  4. Send your application to the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum by October 1. We will notify successful applicants within three weeks to allow enough notice for Green Teams to attend the Greener Towns Celebration in November. Mail to: Greener Nebraska Towns / Nebraska Statewide Arboretum / 102 Keim Hall / Lincoln, NE 68583-0964
