Brown-bag on Monarchs

Thursday, August 3, 2017
9:30 am12:00 pm
150 Keim Hall

The talk will be on Monarch butterflies, a highly visible pollinator that migrates up to 3,000 miles to Mexico to overwinter. Shauna Groenewold, Citizen Scientist & Monarch Enthusiast, will bring awareness of the plight of these amazing pollinators with suggestions of what we can do to ensure that future generations of Monarchs will still be making their annual trip.
In addressing what we can do to help pollinators, Groenewold quotes Eleanor Roosevelt who said, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Sage advice with this and all other environmental matters. This is part of a brown-bag series on “all things green” sponsored by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, UNL Department of Agronomy/Horticulture, UNL Garden Friends and Friends of Maxwell Arboretum. Participants are invited to bring lunch or dinner, if desired, and ideas or questions.
