Good placemaking needs a thoughtful plan. Working with a professional is not required but is recommended if you are requesting over $5,000, otherwise your design partner can be a volunteer with experience in creating landscapes. (A bonus point is awarded to projects that will utilize a professional designer)

Sustainable landscapes need regular and proper maintenance, especially in their first year. TNT projects are expected to be well taken-care-of for at least ten years after planting.

Part 3: Funding

Funds are awarded on a reimbursement basis, so you'll have to cover costs initially (unless your vendors are okay with delaying payment) until your TNT funds arrive after the project is complete.

You must match your funding request with paid and donated "match". At least 50% of your match (25% of your total project value) must be in the form of paid goods and services. The rest can be donated goods and services and volunteer time.

Part 4: Community Connections

Open the door to resources by identifying organizations, city departments and businesses that can help you. It's up to you to contact them and make use of their expertise.
